Today’s sermon was delivered by Mindjaja Tani, senior pastor and founder of my local Indonesian youth fellowship, ICM (Indonesian Campus Ministries).
The main theme was on how we should focus solely on God in everything we do. But that’s not what caught my attention. Prior to that, Djaja spoke about two different ‘peace’ that we should seek. First, peace with God. This is really important to ensure a positive relationship with our creator. Without peace with God, it’s impossible that we can experience anything worth living.
But the second one is even more important: peace OF God. Now, this is actually not too far from the first one, and Jesus has in fact given it to us already. So if we’re not experiencing it, the problem’s with us, not Him.
Yes, reading and understanding God’s word as well as daily communication with Him are super important to experience this peace, but one that’s even more significant is how much we focus on God and God alone, instead of putting God side-by-side with the rest of worldly desires.
